On the Fourth of July 2010, Ryan picked Kim up from her house and told her that they were going to go give the horses treats. They usually visit the horses nearby Kim's house and give them treats- so this wasn't really out of the ordinary. Kim was playing with the horses by the barn and Ryan was over by the pasture. One of the men who work at the barn was leading a horse out and Ryan was next to him.
The horse had a flower wreath around it's neck. Kim wondered why the horse was all decorated with flowers. She thought that the horse might be in a Fouth of July parade. Kim kept asking the man who worked there why this horse was all dressed up. The man knew the surprise, but was afraid to spill the beans. He handed Ryan the reins and Ryan tied the horse up to a post.
Kim just kept wondering why the man who worked at the barn wasn't answering her questions, and why he so rudely walked away. She turned around and Ryan was standing over by the horse, There was a ribbon on the wreath with a little velvet box. Ryan pulled out the wedding ring box and got on his knee. He told Kim how much he loved her and that he couldn't ask for anyone better to be his wife. Ryan was so nervous, but Kim said Yes! Ryan told Kim that the horse was for her and that his name is Pistol.
Kim and Ryan called their families to tell them the news! After that they went out to dinner at The Dragonfly. Then they went to Ryan's family's house and they all watched the Fourth of July fireworks together.
